Film Studies

A world cinema presentation at BYU introduced me to Wings of Desire, sparking a deep passion for filmmaking. Immersing myself in screenwriting and production, I wrote, directed, and produced Feckless, a dark comedy feature, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of independent film production, from post-production to distribution.

Law Firm Libraries, Legal Research, IT

To support my filmmaking pursuits, I worked in law firms managing legal research, document processing, and IT systems. I developed expertise in Microsoft Office, built relational databases in Access, and leveraged Excel for data analysis—skills that later translated into data science and workflow automation.

At Deluxe, I implemented a barcode-based inventory system to streamline asset tracking and introduced a pre-qualification QC process to catch errors early. Star Wars Original Trilogy International

LucasFilm and Fox, eager to make the original Star Wars Trilogy the ultimate DVD release, waited until the format was fully established before moving forward. Deluxe won the bid to handle the worldwide SKUs, and I was brought in to manage the projects—overseeing subtitling, audio conforming, video encoding, menu programming, and testing—while executing budgets, risk management, and communication plans to ensure a global, on-time release with zero manufacturing recalls.

Managing large-scale UMD and Blu-ray launches required swift crisis management to address last-minute production challenges, vendor delays, and quality control issues. By implementing Kanban tracking systems and proactive risk mitigation, I ensured on-time releases while preventing costly recalls.

System Prototyping

One very critical part of managing so many disc projects simultaneously was documentation. We had to catalog every detail of the disc—every piece of video, how it was localized, menu layouts, etc. I created a tool to create these disc planning documents in an automated fashion, and that tool was used as the basis for the Copper disc planning system still in use.

At MGM, I led the Worldwide Digital Distribution program, modernizing content digitization and delivery for global platforms.
